Between Seeing and Knowing, a featured work in the exhibition was first exhibited at Accola Griefen. The work is an extensive tableau comprised of hundreds of glass objects, which takes as a starting point the artists’ long standing interest in Tibetan Buddhist paintings and the integration of their otherwise very separate studio practices. The installation reinterprets the symbolism in the paintings to create a work that reflects the organizational structure and palette of the paintings, as well as the sense of expansiveness and lack of hard resolution characteristic of Buddhist ideology. Using a variety of techniques, this exhibition features individual works created through kiln- casting, slumping, fusing, blowing, hot-sculpting and sand-casting. In the adjacent gallery, the artists display monoprints created by using objects from the larger work as catalysts for mark-making.
